Dancing
With Elves™
Parenting as a Performing Art™
The
Parents' Handbook of Parenting Strategies
by
John Gall, MD, FAAP
|

|
The first thing to know about Parenting is, it’s a dance. This
book teaches you some of the basic steps in that dance. Learn these
and you can begin to taste the sweet taste of success in your
interactions with your children—or anyone else.
|
This book is an attempt to make a constructive contribution
to a world where improvement in the quality of human interactions may be a
deciding factor for our very survival as a species. We must learn how to
interact better with our fellow human beings. And the most crucial situation is
the parenting relationship, where the skills and habits and expectations of the
next generation are being formed through actual experience.
From the Preface:
Elegant PARENTING™:
Strategies for the Twenty-First Century appeared in 1994. Some
friends, noticing that the book weighed over two pounds, asked for something
lighter, something they could read in an hour or two and then carry around in
their pocket for reference. This book is the result of that request. Stripped
down to essentials, it nevertheless contains the substance, including all but
one or two of the sixty-some strategies, of the larger book.
